A Clearer Name and Refreshed Identity

Over the past two years, we have listened to feedback from handlers, families and partners about how our Charity is understood by the public.

We heard that Autism Dogs Charity could sometimes cause confusion, with some people thinking we support autistic dogs rather than autistic individuals and their families.

To make our purpose clearer, our formal name is now:

The Autism Assistance Dogs Charity

Our shorter everyday name will be:

Autism Assistance Dogs (AAD)

Adding “Assistance” helps explain who we support and the role our dogs have.

Our Updated Logo

Alongside our updated name, we have refreshed our logo too. The familiar blue heart remains at its centre, preserving continuity while creating a cleaner, more versatile identity for digital, print and uniforms.

The symbol also carries subtle meaning, bringing together ideas of care, support, continuity, inspired by the infinity symbol often associated with autism as a spectrum, and a stylised dog's nose representing our assistance dog partnerships.

Our new visual identity has been created to feel clear, warm and meaningful, while keeping the same purpose at its heart.

What Stays the Same

Our name and logo are evolving, but our work remains the same.

Our NAS accreditation, ADUK membership, ADI alignment, programme standards and commitment to autistic individuals and their families are unchanged.

The transition will happen gradually over the coming months. Thank you to everyone who shared feedback and helped shape this next step. 💙
